Printing stickers at home

1. Choose sticker paper: matte white for easy writing, glossy for bright colours, kraft for an eco look, clear for a “no-label” look (laser printer recommended).
2. Print a test on plain paper and hold it over the sticker sheet to check alignment.
3. Use your printer’s “best” quality and the paper type setting for labels or glossy paper.
4. Let inkjet prints dry for a few minutes before handling.
5. Cut round stickers with a circle punch or a cutting machine; full-sheet sticker paper can be cut with scissors or a craft knife.
6. For water resistance, use waterproof vinyl sticker paper or add a clear laminate sheet.

Cost per sticker

Home-printed stickers are cheap once you have the paper. If a pack of 25 full-page sticker sheets costs $15 and each sheet holds 20 two-inch round stickers, the paper cost is 3 cents per sticker, plus ink. The Excel calculator works out the cost per sticker from the pack price, sheets per pack and stickers per sheet, adds an ink allowance, and shows the cost per order when you use several stickers per parcel.
